Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) promoted by NABARD and Karnataka government departments have strengthened collective farming and aggregation. However, many FPCs struggle to become sustainable enterprises beyond initial support. Key challenges include limited access to working capital, weak market linkages, and poor understanding of logistics, billing, and statutory compliance. Most FPCs also lack technical knowledge related to value addition, branding, processing, and export procedures. As a result, they remain dependent on selling raw produce at low margins, limiting farmer income growth. In parallel, excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has contributed to gradual soil degradation, threatening long-term productivity and increasing risks to farmer livelihoods. Joint Hill Ventures (JHV) addresses these gaps by partnering directly with FPCs to build stronger market-oriented rural enterprises. JHV works with FPCs located in high-potential regions with unique agricultural products and abundant rural labour, enabling them to transition from raw produce suppliers into village-level hubs for aggregation, storage, processing, and value addition. Through structured procurement, efficient logistics planning, and direct linkage to domestic and export markets, JHV improves price realisation, reduces wastage, and increases profitability for farmers. In the next phase of growth, subject to securing future funding, JHV plans to develop an analytics-driven decision support platform for farmers and FPCs. This platform will provide actionable insights on crop selection, expected profitability, demand forecasting, and optimal storage and sale timelines. By improving price discovery and reducing distress selling, the platform will strengthen decision-making across the value chain. Alongside market linkage and enterprise development, JHV promotes the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices while ensuring income stability during the transition period.
