"Kalasampatti is an Indian art-based heritage company aiming at enriching our everyday lives with the gems from the vast treasures of Indian Art. This is a for-profit company, focussing primarily on female empowerment and rural entrepreneurship. India is home to over 52 forms of traditional and folk art, some of the earliest forms dating back to 3-4 century. Each art form has a distinctive style and nuance. Most of the art that is preserved and available today is in the form of paintings on different types of media such as canvas, cloth, stones, dried leaves etc. Largely, these art forms are practised by families and only particular, fairly small communities of artists, who have carefully preserved the authentic flavour of the art, passing it on to the next generations. For these families, art and paintings is the biggest, and often, the only source of livelihood. Although paintings are the highest form of art, evolving times have opened up newer vistas and avenues for art to be included in our daily lives, be it in the form of stunning ethic wear or the vibrant tea set adorning our table at the next party. As the awareness about our art is increasing, there is an increased demand for such art to be presented in much more unique and novel forms, not only for personal use but also ideal for gifting. Corporates, companies and individual people are choosing gifts that reflect the authentic Indian culture and heritage. This has created a strong market and an immediate need for innovation. Art is considered as an asset due to its appreciating value with time, and people are buying art as an investment. Now, investment in art, which was once restricted to works of European or Western artists is being channelled into Indian art. Galleries are holding exhibitions, auctions are making white glove sales for Indian art in the recent times. The art scene is rapidly changing towards a more dynamic, proactive and demanding market."
