Kanpur Flowercycling Pvt. Ltd. is a first of its kind venture that has pioneered the world’s first technology to convert temple-flowers and stubble-waste into Florafoam® - a high performing, mouldable and durable biomaterial that displaces the Earth’s 5th biggest pollutant- Styrofoam (Expanded Polystyrene). Florafoam®, which is custom designable to any shape, size and strength, is also home-compostable. It is non-flammable unlike Styrofoam and capable of replacing Styrofoam based B2B packaging industry, having a 17.9B$ global market. Florafoam® is the genesis of circular economy solution- Environmental pollution, Waste disposal and Socio-economic sustainability. We employ women, who used to be manual scavengers, for flower collection, sorting, and processing. In UP there are over 17,500 families engaging in the degrading practice - we want to break the idea of ‘untouchability’. Creating Florafoam® is low energy, utilizes free raw materials, and requires minimal water. Our core is a low-complexity manufacturing process; we can easily scale operations. Florafoam is revolutionizing the way India deals with mammoth temple-waste and stubble-residue disposal problems. Florafoam promises substantial and eco-friendly use for this humongous amount of waste that becomes a cause to the multiple layers of pollution.
