Khewra FPC was incorporated in January 2020 with a vision to benefit small/marginal farmers in its cluster area. Initially, Khewra FPC created market linkage for member farmers and started to sell their crop produce directly to companies. Later on to benefits more farmers in the cluster, FPC decided to set up a collection center in Khewra village. From Collection Centre member as well as non-member farmers were able to collect, sort, grade, and pack (under FSSAI license) their produce at a single point. Within a short period of time, more than 150 farmers started to sell their crops at better rates (higher than the benchmark set in Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana) directly to e-commerce companies like Grofers, Swiggy, Zomato, Amazon, Otipy etc. In addition to providing benefits to farmers, the establishment of a collection center also generated employment opportunities in the village during the distressing time of the corona pandemic. Earlier in Sonipat cluster there used to be an overproduction of crops like tomato, cauliflower, cabbage and ladyfinger, Khewra FPC helped farmers in crop planning and now farmers are growing 40-45 different types of horticultural crops in the cluster. Khewra FPC also created market for farmers of exotic vegetables like kale, Green lettuce, Red lettuce, Celery, Leek, Iceberg, Broccoli, Chinese cabbage, Parsley and Basil which increased their income by manifold in a short period of time. Farmers of amla, giloy, jamun and karonda who were struggling to sell their crops in mandi were also benefited after getting associated with Khewra FPC. Khewra FPC has set up collection centre in states of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. Till now Khewra FPC has benefited more than 1000 farmers across India. In financial year 2020- 2021, Khewra FPC was able to report a turnover of Rs. 1.52 crore. Khewra FPC has achieved remarkable growth in the financial year 2021-2022 with a turnover of more than Rs. 5 crore. In addition to the forward market linkage, Khewra FPC is also providing back end solutions to farmers. FPC has signed MOU with irrigation companies like Netafim, Jain Irrigation and providing micro irrigation solutions to farmers. To provide all kinds of digital services to farmers, FPC has also set up CSC (a common service centre) in Khewra village. FPC is also organizing regular training events and workshops to spread awareness of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and sustainable agriculture.
