In their own words

We want to give it back to the society. I have always found the cost of diagnostics to be very high for a common man. Someone who is not ready or who do not have enough time to stand in the queue has to pay a hefty amount for the diagnostic tests which burns a hole in the pocket. And worst part is that most of the money taken by patients goes to the referring doctors/quacks. Commission business in healthcare diagnostics has an abominable effect on the quality. Labs are ready to do the tests genuinely but cost of marketing is way too much to bear, hence prices increase. In this industry inflated cost is not benefitting anyone but for middle man in this case referring doctors. Solution: Remove the middle man by having standardized tests rates, which is highly cost effective for the My lab: patients. It further removes the burden of marketing from the lab to focus on their core strength i.e. diagnostics of highest quality. How: We will make one software by which all the lab tests can be booked at a rate predetermined which is up to 60% lesser than the going market rate. These tests will be performed by the lab in the area of patient. The patient will have to go to the lab to get it done. Mind you there will be no home collection, because in my experience of running lab in so many years I have realized there are many things which may go wrong during home collection which affects the result. But can be managed in case it is so required from lab (which is giving service) end at an additional charge. So we will empanel one lab at every three kilometers approximately. They will be required to put up a sign of OYO LAB at their premise. They will be required to follow all the SOPs of taking sample to performing the tests till reporting and uploading reports. Patient can go any time of the day to get their tests done unlike in all other tech based lab services, where one is supposed to book a day prior. Patients will be aware about where his/her test is being conducted. Further there will not any capping on minimum tests required to book or else the collection charge exceeds the actual test cost. Cost: First of all there will not be any investment in building even a single lab. We will empanel the existing lab who will be allowed to function as before. They will just have to start giving services to the patients who are coming through My Lab, where in payments will be done by the My Lab, as all the payments by the patients will be done at the app itself. Hence the main cost will be incurred by marketing and technology development primarily. Marketing has to be at high scale and so should be the technology. Marketing includes digital marketing, physical marketing, billboard radio etc. Technology wise one should have a website, IOS app and android app. Both require dedicated team. There has to be a supporting staff which can gel these two pillars of the organization.
