Kumaon Himalayas is one such stellar biodiverse system, rich in its agricultural flora and myriad mountain landscape. The lands of Kumaon are rich in minerals and naturally occurring fertilizers. Thus, the agri produce, in sync with nature, is high in nutritional and medicinal value. These are health boosters and super foods. Mountain farming is largely family farming, cultivating patches of usable lands dispersed at difference altitudes. These indigenous farmers of Kumaon follow traditional methods by not exploiting the fertility of the soil with chemicals since it has been the only source of livelihood for generations. Use of traditional farmyard manure, seeds sowing, recycled weeds and fresh water makes the produce organic by default. Women farmers actively participate in growing the produce from home gardens and waste lands for subsistence and cash resources. Food and nutrition play a crucial role in Ayurveda. Emphasizing on life enhancing (Ayushakara) and vitalizing (Urjaskara) foods, Hypocrites too stated “let thy foods be thy medicine”. Thus, nutrients dense foods, packed with healing minerals, vitamins, proteins, healthy fats and fibre are vital for maintaining health and disease prevention. ​ People across the planet are increasingly seeking safe and toxic free, healthy foods along with product traceability. Survaana is one such initiative following holistic production management system which is supportive to environment, health and sustainability. Matured produce is ethically grown and sourced from home gardens, family farmers and small holder farming communities. The functional properties of food are further enhanced by slow processed conventional methods namely cleaning, washing, sun drying and manual grinding thereby, retaining nutrients, essential oils and medicinal properties. ​ Food safety and management standards are strictly adhered to. Here at Survaana, the main focus is on providing quality and purity.
