LeadInvent Pharma Inc. Destroying cancer tissue using a light-activated drug About the company: LeadInvent Pharma Inc. (LIP), a nano-medicine company, developing a Gel formulation to be used during Brain cancer. The company is HQ in the US with India R&D centre. The Team: The Management team consists of Dr Pradip Bhatnagar (Ex-President Daiichi Sankyo- India, earlier Ranbaxy Drug Discovery), two seasoned entrepreneurs from IIT Delhi and a Harvard Medical School professor. The team is backed up by a world-class advisory board consisting of leading cancer biologists from Dana Farber USA ( Harvard Medical School), Nanomedicine leaders from Amrita Nano Science centre and C level industry leaders from Novartis, Roche, Avantor, Ranbaxy, GSK. LeadInvent clinical Advisory board consists of India's top oncology clinicians from Tata Cancer Memorial and Astra Medicity. Collectively the team brings over 350 man-year experience in drug development and pharma science. Problem: During brain cancer surgery surgeons are not able to remove 100% tumour cells. The leftover tumour cells cause a relapse and patients lose their battle with the disease within 15 months from diagnosis Solution: LIP team has successfully developed and tested a unique patented Gel that surgeons could use during brain cancer surgery. This gel gets activated by a low power laser and helps surgeons remove tumour tissue which is difficult to be removed using conventional surgical methods Current Results: A single dose of LeadInvent's Gel completely eliminates brain cancer in lab rats without recurrence. Preliminary toxicity studies indicate that the Gel is well tolerated with no observed side-effects at the treatment dose. Next Steps: The team is in discussion with the FDA to formalize the regulatory studies needed to mature the program into human clinical studies.
