Lekope, which means "together" in the language of the Mising tribe, was initiated by women farmers in Majuli, Assam, to address challenges related to accessing markets, finance, and knowledge resources for enhancing their livelihoods. Lekope Majuli Women FPC Ltd. was registered in December 2022, currently has 550 women farmers as shareholders. Lekope manufactures a wide range of products including various rice varieties, pickles, edible oil, and spices cultivated by women farmers in Majuli. Spice products include turmeric powder, dried king chili, black pepper, ginger powder, etc. Additionally, Lekope offers a diverse selection of handloom products such as garments, shawls, stoles, as well as bamboo handicraft items like lamp shades, pen stands, and bamboo pens.
