Education in general and legal education in particular is facing challenges of reach, quality and affordability. LawSkills.in aims to overcome these challenges by offering multilingual online certificate courses in law and professional soft skills. It helps in bridging the gap between legal education and practice. Currently, the platform offers courses in 6 languages, including English, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali and Tamil. The courses, developed by practicing lawyers and law firms, cover the practical aspect of the legal profession, including legal procedures, dealing with clients, etc. This is an interactive online self-paced platform wherein the learners can learn on their own and receive feedback from the faculty on their assignments. Learners are able to interact with faculty via web, online and also get their queries resolved. The courses contain self-reading material, video lectures, quizzes, assignments, case studies and final examination. Apart from this, the platform also offers audio courses. Learners who submit all assignments and obtain min 50% marks in the final examination get a certificate of completion. The courses are directly beneficial to law students and young lawyers, and are of great use for law faculty, colleges, law firms and corporate bodies, which struggle in covering specialized subjects and emerging areas in law or training their workforce. As far as scalability is concerned, more subject areas can be offered and multi-modal delivery can be processed.
