Medagg Ventures envisions the opportunity in consolidating healthcare assets ( hospitals, nursing homes and clinics) under a single platform. This exercise of consolidation is the need of the hour given that a number of these assets have been built over time at sub optimal scales leading to an extremely fragmented market with a number of the assets being economically non viable. This has brought about an ironical situation in the market when hospital beds are actually installed but are not operational for the single reason that they are installed at sub optimal scales. Medagg plans to come in as a consolidator of these assets in a win-win plan that not only aims to bail out these struggling assets but also helps in opening up these beds for the society and its healthcare needs. This exercise is perhaps the first logical step to be taken in this social enterprise of healthcare before the government starts thinking of "creating" more beds. It is logical to make operational, those beds which have already been installed albeit in the private sector and in a sub optimal scale. This exercise in a way replicates the OYO model that has become hugely successful in opening up the supply that was locked up in sub-optimally scaled hotels and has helped in bridging the gap between demand and supply for hotel rooms. Similarly, Medagg aims to bridge the demand-supply gap in hospital beds by means of consolidating smaller healthcare assets into a larger platform. Upon consolidation, it becomes easier and economical for Medagg to run central services for number of hospital services including centralised procurement, medical resources planning etc which eventually leads to better economics for the hospital and hence to the patient Medagg in this venture also plans to keep the aggregation of these hospitals in an asset-light strategy where it will not acquire immovable assets like land and building. This strategy will further help in keeping costs low. A platform play like this in the healthcare space also comes in complete sync with the latest government policies which are aimed at increasing accessibility of healthcare services and at the same time bringing down the cost of healthcare
