In their own words
Dear Jury, I have designed a retinal imaging device named Make In India Retinal Camera (MII Ret Cam). I was invited by Honorable PM in this regard in 2015. I had a one to one meeting with Dr Jitendra singh when i visited PM Office. We went ahead bootstrapped and file patent and commercialized the device and named it Make In India Retinal Camera (MII Ret Cam) being a proud Indian and due to vision of Honorable PM. This Make In India Medical Device is known now worldwide as (MII Ret Cam) and spreading Make In India initiative of our Honorable PM with proud in 41 countries as on today. There are many scientific papers and presentation published globally with this small device (you can google "MII Ret Cam" and see the publications and work). It has cut down the cost from 90 lakhs to 20,000 Rs to provide care for premature babies and recently one paper published from top most eye institute from London ( Moorfield Eye Institute) has recommended MII Ret Cam as the most feasible solutionto prevent blindness in premature babies for Asia ( Link of the paper - https://www.nature.com/articles/s41433-019-0620-y) Read the second last paragraph and look at the Reference 10. MII Ret Cam made us proud and jury can witness it on google. Our Need- This device can be installed at every PHC and NICU in India due to its cost effective nature and can play a major role to avoid blindness caused by diabetes and retinopathy of prematurity. This will only be possible with the help of government. Dear Jury, I am glad to share about the launch of the website (www.dbfi.net) of our new initiative for India to prevent people from diabetic blindness on world diabetic day. Our approach is fundamentally different from traditional approaches of organizing camps and screening people. Traditional approaches have not worked well since last 20 years. We will be launching an app called DBFI (Diabetic Blindness Free India) soon which will work as a forced preventive care to avoid diabetic blindness. It will address following challenges. 1. Awareness 2. Referral to right care provider at right time 3. Forced regular follow up Hopefully it will make a difference. India still doesn’t have the real data on diabetic blindness. We might be able to achieve it. DBFI App will cover PAN India in phases and we dream that each diabetic of this country should have the app and we will make sure that they dont lead to the road of blindness just because they didn’t know. Our Need-We need initial funding for 12 Lakhs to bring the DBFI initiative on ground. WE ARE STRUGGLING FOR FUNDING AND HOPE THAT SEEING OUT PAST RECORD WE WILL GET HELP FROM THE GOVT.
