Tourism in our country has grown to a point where it needs to dramatically detour its approach and strive towards sustainability. Tourism in India should be developed in such a way that it accommodates and entertains visitors in a way that is minimally intrusive or destructive to the environment and sustains & supports the native cultures in the locations it is operating in. Therefore, it would be imperative for us, that is, private sector and voluntary organizations, to become active partners in the endeavor to attain sustainable growth in tourism if India is to become a world player in the tourism industry. MylocalDost is a private entity, which aims to connect with all such organizations which are working towards Responsible/Sustainable tourism and aim mainstream them and bring about responsibility in the conventional tourism sector. As we believe, tourism should be Sustainable rather than Destructible, we're curating and partnering with organizations that we strongly admire and respect their outstanding work towards aiding the local communities and supporting Responsible tourism. We aim to give a platform to all such local hosts who love to host travellers and at the same time care for the land and the locals thus ensuring their sustainability in the entire process. We call such hosts as Responsible Local Dosts. Post partenering with Responsible Local Dosts, MylocalDost would urge travellers to take the unconventional tourism path of connecting directly with locals, staying in their eco-stays and homestays, exploring offbeat places like a local with the locals, trying local cuisine, indulging in rural activities, art and culture, coming closer to nature, getting the sense of belonging to the place, in a nutshell, getting the most out of a place without impacting the place. VISION: MylocalDost primarily aims to benefit the land and its locals of tourist destinations: a. Environmental sustainability: Responsible travel means keeping the beauty of the place intact. Host will ensure guests travel with minimum impact to the environment. b. Socio-cultural sustainability: Promoting cultural exchange and preserving local traditions. Hosts would promote local culture, cuisine and art of a place, thus promoting micro culture, which are losing their existence. c. Economic sustainability: Involving the local community in the tourism industry for their livelihood thus reducing migration of rural folks to urban areas for jobs. We envision to bridge the gap between Urban and Rural lives and enable them to stand for each other and for the betterment of environment so that we have a better world for our future generations.
