Female fruit flies are the major pests causing huge losses to small and marginal farmers worth hndreds of crores and losses to export oriented food processing industries in India due to higher chemical residues in agricultural produce caused by excessive use of insecticides to control these pests. So far the controlling measures avialabela are only for the male fruit flies in the world, whereas the major damage is caused by female fruit flies. Our innovation helps in controlling female fruit flies along with males. This green pest control innovation is potential to get two patents. 1. Use of kairomones to lure female cum male fruit flies is one patentable innovation 2. Novel season long control release mechanism in design of trap is another patentable innovation. It will enhance fruit fly catch without replacement of lure and reduces damage in crops sustainable way. Reduces losses to farmers and food processing industries It is season proof temperature stable and rain fast.
