Standardization establishes a consistent biological activity, chemical profile, or quality assurance programme for herbal drug production and manufacturing. For global harmonisation, WHO-specific herbal medicine safety, efficacy, and quality guidelines are essential. An overview of herbal nanomedicine extraction, characterization, and standardisation methods is presented. Phytosomes' increased bioavailability, bhasma as a metal nanocarrier drug delivery system, metabolomics' potential to improve phytotherapeutic agents, DNA-based molecular markers to distinguish adulterants, and SCAR markers for herb authentication and discrimination are also reported.
