Neohull Pvt Ltd is a medical device innovation company focused on solving high-impact clinical challenges through user-centred design and engineering. The company is developing automated, sensor-based medical systems. They would improve patient safety, reduce clinical workload, and enhance the consistency of routine hospital procedures. Neohull’s first product addresses a critical unmet need in airway management by automating the tracheal suctioning process for intubated and tracheostomised patients. This procedure that is currently manual, labour-intensive, and prone to delays and variability. This product was developed by Akshay (CEO & director - Neohull) at the ICMR-funded National Center for Assistive Health Technology (NCAHT), AIIMS Delhi, through the biodesign innovation program that brings together designers, engineers, and clinicians to identify unmet needs and translate them into real technologies. Guided by clinical mentors Dr. Sandeep Singh, Dr. Arvind K. Kairo, and Dr. Kapil Dev Soni, the project advanced the technology to TRL-3 and the patent has been filed. As per ICMR’s mandate, the IP is jointly filed by AIIMS and ICMR. The innovation fellows as inventors are granted the first right to license and commercialize the technology as a startup. This strong institutional collaboration continues to support ongoing refinement, clinical validation, and future trials.
