Newtrace is a Bengaluru-based deep-tech company building the next generation of green hydrogen technology. The company develops indigenous, PGM-free (platinum-group-metal-free) electrodes for alkaline water electrolysis under its VoltaGen product line — a critical component that determines the efficiency and cost of producing green hydrogen. By engineering high-performance electrodes locally, Newtrace aims to reduce dependence on imported materials and bring down the levelised cost of hydrogen, directly supporting India's transition to clean energy.Founded by Prasanta Sarkar and Rochan Sinha, Newtrace is recognised under the SIGHT scheme of India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and has been awarded PLI (Production Linked Incentive) support. The company is backed by leading investors including Peak XV, Aavishkaar, Speciale Invest, Micelio, HDFC Bank and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Venture Capital.
