The world has changed around us but Andaman and Nicobar Islands still lives the traditional way. There are no app based taxi aggregators, no working food delivery apps, you cant buy a bus ticket online, you cant hire a self driven two/four wheeler online, its oddly painful to book a movie ticket and its hard to plan a tour to Andamans all by yourself. Andaman & Nicobar Islands has a lot of problems which can be solved by technology driven startups. The core of these problems is limited availability of Internet, which will be solved by March 2020, as the Submarine Optic Fiber cable project is progressing ahead of time. Population of Andaman and Nicobar Islands which is projected as 4 Lakhs in the 2011 Census also discourages major players to enter the market and invest their funds and resources here. We at Nico are working to develop an App based business model which takes care of almost all the problems that we have stated above. We want the NICO App to become a must have for each resident of the Islands as well as for the visiting tourists. Nico would be a platform where one will be able to book their commute taxi/self driven car/self driven two wheeler, order food to their homes/offices/almost anywhere, book bus tickets/movie tickets, order grocery and get it delivered home, pay for all services using our mobile wallet, integrated with the application, pay at almost all offline merchants with our mobile wallet, book tour packages integrated with our commute and other solutions. WHY NOT FOCUS ON ONE PROBLEM AT A TIME? There are two reasons which has influenced our decision of building an application which solves many problems & has an array of unrelated business verticals. The first reason is that when a customer has multiple use of a single app he is less likely to drift to other competitors. The second reason is that in Andaman & Nicobar Islands it is difficult to scale up the revenue when the focus is on one business vertical because of limited scope due to the small population size and the limited carrying capacity of the Islands.
