About ViBraille Close your eyes for a few seconds and try to navigate through your phone, it’s pretty difficult, right? So it is fair to say that the hardships of a blind are beyond the imagination of a person who enjoys the colors of the world. Now imagine how wonderful would it be if a person despite being visually impaired could use a smartphone with absolute ease just like any other person. That is exactly what we have aimed for. Although having access to books written in braille somehow blind people are deprived of modern technologies as simple as a smartphone due to the complexity of it and they end up being on the far end of the spectrum. To close this very gap we at NOTUS have developed ViBraille Benefits/ What is the problem start-up solving With ViBraille, we aim to provide easy access to any information desired by a visually challenged person using a smartphone. The way our app works is that it translates whatever’s on the screen into Braille which is 63 characters differently combined in a 6-dot pattern and users can feel those braille characters through vibrations as they move their fingers across the screen. This is done through Haptics which is communication through the sense of touch, which makes our app accessible on any device since haptic feedback is one of the basic features provided on a smartphone. Design/ How does the start-up solve this problem? To understand it better let’s assume there are 2 friends Winnie and Charlie. Winnie being visually impaired, misses out on several fun activities over the internet such as texting and chatting with her friends. The basic obstruction here is communication this is where our app comes in handy. The moment Charlie sends a text to Winnie she can easily navigate through her phone just by hovering over the screen and read the message by sensing the vibration feedback from every text translated into Braille using ViBraille whilst the rest of the applications works normally as usual. Uniqueness of Solution Our goal is not just to give the visually disabled a better technological experience but also to provide an opportunity in becoming independent so that they can make use of several necessities such as education, banking, and employment. The foundation of ViBraille is the Braille system, it uses haptic feedback as the mode of communication which brings out a whole new experience to the user. Our application is just like any other smartphone application and it doesn't need any external source or hardware.
