Pine Country Global Private Limited, incorporated in February 2017 and headquartered in Siliguri, West Bengal, is developing an innovation-led premium tea venture focused on branded, sustainable and technology-enabled tea products for domestic and international markets. The startup proposes a format-driven portfolio of CTC, orthodox, blended and organic teas through multiple differentiated sub-brands, catering to segments ranging from hygienic retail packs to premium boutique tins and compostable pyramid tea bags for export markets. The innovation lies in traceable sourcing, strong brand storytelling and modern retail formats that move beyond India’s largely commoditized loose-tea market. Pine Country also plans eco-friendly packaging formats including nitrogen-sealed pouches, kraft paper-based packs, compostable pyramid tea bags and reusable tins and jars, improving freshness while reducing plastic-heavy packaging. The startup will follow a regional cluster sourcing model across Darjeeling, Assam and North Bengal, procuring teas directly from gardens within a 300 km radius to ensure quality, traceability and reduced carbon footprint. The facility will operate as a dry blending and packaging unit with minimal environmental impact and no water-intensive processing. Technology adoption will include AI-driven quality assessment, ESG monitoring and data-driven demand forecasting to optimise sourcing, blending consistency and expansion across D2C, export and retail channels. The company also plans strong ESG practices including rural employment generation with over 70% local hiring, women-inclusive workplace policies and adherence to relevant food safety and regulatory standards. While incorporated in 2017 and having completed regulatory groundwork and brand development, operations are yet to commence and DPIIT recognition is sought to support launch and build a scalable global tea brand.
