Playway Books Pvt. Ltd. is a Kochi-based educational publishing startup founded with the mission of making difficult school subjects genuinely easy to understand — not through shortcuts, but through structured, game-based learning. The company was initiated in 1996 by Mrs. Lilly Joseph, a Chemistry teacher from Kochi, who recognised that the conventional approach to teaching Chemical Symbols, Formulas, and Equations was failing students. Her insight was simple but powerful: Chemistry has its own language, and like any language, it can be learned systematically — step by step — if taught the right way. This led to the creation of the Playway Method, a proprietary pedagogical framework that forms the core of all Playway Books products. The method replaces rote memorisation with a structured, activity-driven progression, making abstract scientific concepts intuitive and retainable for students in Std 7–10. The company's flagship product, The Language of Chemistry — Playbook®, is a supplementary workbook that has been formally appreciated by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) in 2002 and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT/CBSE) in 2008 — two of India's most prestigious educational bodies. With over two decades of ground-level experience in the Indian K-12 education space, Playway Books combines the credibility of a teacher-founded venture with the innovation of a learning-by-doing approach.
