My name is Amit Saha and I was chief sustainability officer with Coca-Cola for India. I am creating & leading the industry consortium towards creation of ‘producers responsibility organization (PRO)’ in plastics . You would be aware that the environmental & ecological danger that plastics is causing is matter of grave concern and has to be addressed on war footing. Plastics – however is a magic material and has so many advantages of being light, un-breakable , non-rusting, non-hygroscopic, airtight and also one with least carbon foot print. Most importantly it 100% Recyclable ( while being non – bio degradable in most cases) thus staying littered on lands, leaking into the seas and creating a potential disaster. The same plastic can be recycled , to create circular economies in a profitable manner to benefit everyone in the value chain. PRO-INDIA Recycling Co aims to do just that. Create Circular Economies and Improve livelihood of 3 MM Waste-Pickers in India.
