Brief about Company / Profile 250 Words ProtExtent Biosolutions Pvt. Ltd. (PBPL) is a startup in the healthcare sector incorporated in August, 2022, and incubated at the ILS-Bioincubation Centre, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. PBPL envisions providing affordable healthcare through protein based enzymes, biotherapeutics and vaccines. PBPL has been founded by a group of researchers with expertise (over 30 years of combined research experience of the core team) in complimentary disciplines of biomedical research ranging from protein chemistry, molecular biology, recombinant protein technology, vaccine research, and public health. The core also team specializes in industrial recombinant protein scale-up, cGMP production and technology transfer involving commercial production and purification of recombinant proteins. PBPL has expertise in different recombinant protein expression platforms, which includes bacterial (Escherichia coli and Lactococcus lactis, a specialized GRAS organism); yeast (Pichia pastoris and Kluveromyces lactis, another GRAS organism with advantages of producing safe and effective recombinant proteins for application in the food and drug industry) and insect cells (higher eukaryotic expression platform). PBPL is developing its novel and versatile Virus-Like Particle (VLP) based platform amenable to bioconjugation with antigens of choice (from various infectious / non-communicable disease targets), essentially in a ‘plug-n-display’ approach, for improving their immunogenicity, as a flagship R&D program. Additionally, PBPL focuses on developing a combination of efficient recombinant protein expression and purification processes for producing cost-effective recombinant proteins with application in food and drug industry (such as enzymes and biotherapeutics). Other aligned business interest involves providing Contract Research Services for producing customized recombinant proteins for public / private (both national and international) clients.
