PUREYARNS is a sustainable materials startup focused on converting banana post-harvest agro-waste (pseudostem) into scalable, high-performance materials for consumer and industrial applications. The startup operates at the intersection of agriculture, manufacturing, and circular economy innovation, addressing the growing need for environmentally responsible raw materials. India generates millions of tonnes of banana agro-waste annually, most of which is either burned or discarded, leading to pollution and loss of economic value for farmers. PUREYARNS aims to transform this waste into commercially viable products such as sustainable footwear materials, home textiles, bio-composite tiles (Bio-Tiles), packaging materials, and other value-added applications. The company follows a decentralized, farm-level processing model that enables low-cost raw material sourcing, rural employment generation, and scalable manufacturing. By integrating agricultural waste streams with industrial demand, PUREYARNS creates a dual-impact model that benefits farmers while providing industries with sustainable material alternatives. Currently, the startup has developed early-stage prototypes for footwear and material extraction and is working toward product refinement, pilot testing, and commercialization.
