Gastro-Intestinal (GI) parasitic infections are common in cows, buffaloes, sheep and goats and can cause upto 60% loss in milk production and loss of weight. Scheduled feeding of de-worming medicine to all animals has led to anthelmintic resistance in the parasites. This has been well documented in literature which has led to many countries adopting only evidence based treatment of GI parasites. Currently in India there is poor infrastructure to detect GI parasites and current equipment available in India veterinary labs are slow and has low sensitivity. We want to introduce an easy-to-use automated egg flotation and counting instrument which can be used by an untrained farmer. When coupled with a medicine vending machine, we can implement remote and precision diagnosis and treatment of GI parasitic infection. This self service "diagnostic booth can be setup at each farm or near multiple "micro" farms to enable the farmer to do regular testing at low cost and also enable veterinary doctors to remote prescribe appropriate medicine and doses. The automated instrument will have high throughput and hence be able to support the huge population of animals in India at low cost. The revenue for this business venture will be generated by sales of instruments, tests and service contracts.
