Roha Biotech is a climate-tech startup pioneering mycelium-based biodegradable packaging as a scalable and cost-effective alternative to Styrofoam foam (EPS pacakging). Headquartered in India and incubated at SINE, IITMIC, CIIC and riidl, Roha is building the country's first industrial-grade mycelium packaging factory, addressing both environmental damage and unmet industry needs. India alone consumes over ₹3,500 Cr worth of EPS annually, with over 160,000 tons of EPS packaging used across automotive, FMCG, electronics, and personal care sectors. Roha’s product decomposes in 60–90 days, is fully home compostable, and offers the same protective qualities as EPS — but at ₹160/kg, making it cost-competitive even in price-sensitive markets. Roha’s key innovation lies in its decentralized, modular manufacturing model, which uses local agro-waste and automation to reduce costs and carbon emissions, while enabling rapid scalability near customer hubs. This not only empowers local farming communities by reducing stubble burning but also ensures a truly circular supply chain. The company has completed 5+ paid pilots, secured 15,000 MOQ and is preparing to scale from 4T/month to 40T/month capacity. With strong early traction, ₹1.8 Cr in non-dilutive grants, and growing customer interest, Roha is now raising an ₹8 Cr seed round to expand production, convert LOIs into long-term contracts, and diversify into adjacent sustainable material lines.
