The Idea - Accessible Therapy Bus Samphia Foundation aims to eliminate distance-based hardships as a barrier towards quality care for children with disabilities with the aid of The Mobile Therapy Clinic. The Solution With the aid of the mobile therapy clinic, we aspire to bridge this gap for children and parents who cannot access our canter based interventions. The therapy bus will travel to lesser accessible areas in Kullu and neighboring districts of Himachal Pradesh. It will be stationed in a selected area/home/anganwadis/health centers/schools as per the need. The therapy-center-on-wheels will be a well equipped therapy setup that provides Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy for children with disabilities. In addition to providing counseling and therapy, the Therapy Bus will also play an active role in spreading awareness and information. An in-built projector will help educate the local residents on the importance of early detection and intervention. The staff on-board will also inform parents regarding home-based intervention methods. These demonstrations will help parents understand a play way treatments which they can apply in their daily lives. Our trained staff will also provide hands-on training to the parents. The Need - Challenges Living in a mountainous terrain with severe weather conditions, poor road infrastructure and lack of accessible public transport make up for the daily challenges for children with disabilities to access quality care. Long-established science shows that early and appropriate therapy intervention can be hugely beneficial to the quality of life of a disabled child. The challenging commute to the specialized centers is a major deterrent that leads to the children skipping their therapy sessions and hinders the opportunity of early intervention.
