We, a group of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, alumni, have started Seed2Sapling Education initiative. The idea of our initiative is to enable the students to think critically and creatively, inculcate problem-solving skills, adaptability, collaboration, communication, empathy and most importantly make them actively participate in the learning process. Inother words, students would be involved in hearts-on, heads-on and hands-on or H-cube learning. Briefly, H-cube philosophy is as follows, Hearts ON: Students get hooked in the learning process with examples and challenges connected to their daily life observations or real world problems. Heads ON: Students think about open-ended questions and activities and try to come up with the concept by themselves or with minimum facilitation. Hands ON: Students participate in exploratory hands-on activities individually or in a group, leading to solution(s) for a given problem To reiterate, our programs are a combination of interest (hearts on), inquiry (heads on) and activity (hands-on) based experiential learning, which makes it a discovery process instead of just doing! In summary, we aim to create an enriched, joyful and experiential learning environment where a student becomes knowledge (re)creator instead of knowledge consumer.
