Seeragam - The Native Store is a sustainable store run by people who are passionate and care for nature & traditional food practices. Team Seeragam was formed after realising there is need to create a sustainable and potential growing market to bridge the gap between natural growers and common people. Our desire is to provide a way for unadulterated traditional food for the nearest community. We work with natural farmers across the Country and produce high quality food our ancestors ate which were natural and healthy. The Name - 'Seeragam' 1. The Tamil Meaning of சீரகம் = சீர் (balance) + அகம் (body) means 'balances body'. Our store aims to sell such produces only. 2. In spite of many spices available in our cuisine, 'Seeragam' is considered as the most prominent spice. Without this one spice, the spice box is not complete. Considering the value of the spice, we have such high values for our store too. 3. Lastly, the name creates such a curiosity amongst people which helps us to reach :) The Native Store (நற்பொருள் குவியம்) We aim to sell all the produces directly from natural farmers or producers. Almost all our value added products are prepared either by us, home style or any women at home who does wonderful cooking in traditional method. All ingredients used are naturally grown from our farmers. Our Vision & Who we are? To enable people to get message that “It is the responsibility of both food producers and consumers to work in concert with the environment, understand our land and what it needs, and put aside our contemporary industrial reflex of attempting to increase ‘yield’ at all costs.” Creating awareness amongst people to eat consciously and stay away from Artificial pesticides which will only harm our society & people physically and mentally. To stand against GMO and commercial seeds and give importance and do as much as we can to save our traditional native seeds. To support this community of safe food consumers not just by bringing out the best products but also providing access to traditional cooking knowledge, methodologies and impact of knowing the food and ingredients we eat. To always work on 'Fair-Trade' policy and retain ethics and values and treat this place not as just a business place but a responsible community which believes and works on higher cause and well-being of life. 'Team Seeragam' also believes safe food is sensible and impactful only when there is a safe environment to grow. That is why our values and systems has process that will retain the harmony of a safe environment. 1. Proudly we are the first conceptual store which does not use single use plastic packaging material. 2. Encourage people to bring own containers or bags for purchasing products and in turn consider reduction in pricing incurred for packaging. 3. Every product in the store is directly from farmers/ producers. There is no traders or dealers in between hence we ensure fair pricing for farmers and customers. 4. Greens and few vegetables are from our own farm and hence we get it fresh every day. 5. We want to make sure our customers are educated with the product knowledge they may need. We also make sure we keep updating and engaging them in the form, of workshops and trainings or any awareness in any form as such. 'Seeragam' is more than just a place which sells native produces. We are a part of the community driving towards sustainable and healthy food.
