Nanhe Kalam is an initiative which focuses on primary school kids of Class 5 of Govt Schools in Haryana and plans to train them in such a way that they are able to pursue secondary education with ease. The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are a system of alternate schools for gifted students in India. By preparing students of class 5 for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test conducted by CBSE, we aim at providing these talented students from extremely backward areas of India, a chance to receive quality education after 5th standard so that they are at par with the students from urban areas and have the ability to become working professionals in any sector or field of work in the future. SRI plans to collaborate with District administration for using the infrastructure and training of the teachers in further stages. Schools are selected on Enrolment (25 Above), Motivated Teacher and Community Members. After selection of the schools, fellows are being selected from the same village with the criteria, where a minimum of graduation (B.Ed. preferred) with good communication skills are selected after a round of Written test and interviews (Personal and Group Discussions). Learning Materials a mix of concepts and previous year Questions is been used by us where every concept is being dealt by fellow for a stipulated time and then consolidated with weekly tests. Constant Training and mentoring of the fellows would help fellows in improving their in-class activities and their own pedagogy skills. Key factor is the interaction between Fellow-parent & teacher which gives a sustainability approach towards problem solving and a participatory space.
