Cut leaves and foliage farming like tea, tobacco, silk, paan, henna and so on are commercially important because they form the base of many industries and are highly valuable for both domestic and export markets. Organic Nitrogen made available at leaf would increase the overall quality, production and productivity of the foliage. However traditional fertilizers and biofertilizers are applied at the soil. Almost 40% of applied nitrogen biofertilizer is lost due to volatilisation, run off, high temperatures and low humidity. Nitrogen to leaves is made available by biological nitrogen fixation at the roots, which is then transported to different parts of the plant, the leaves thus receive lesser nitrogen than they require. Competition from weeds is another tussle the plants have to go through for nitrogen. The best way to mitigate this problem for foliage farmers would be a way to provide nitrogen directly to leaves where further metabolism can take place. We at SIM Organics have come up with sprayable, foliar biofertilizer that is spot acting, crop specific, location specific and easy to use biofertilizers for leaves.
