Our mission is four-fold: 1. Preserving lesser-known handicrafts by reinterpreting them into functional objects of use e.g. lathe toys, Gaura stone carving, shell inlay, chitai work, bobbin lace, wax casting, marble inlay etc. 2. Finding authenticity in handicraft in terms of material and method to preserve that craft knowledge that are being diluted due to competition and fast pace of a globalized industry. 3. To feature regional folklore, geography and biodiversity in our product design. 4. To encourage people to give the same value to masterpieces made by master artisans, as they would to antiques. We believe art should be bought from artisans who are keeping it alive. We want to instill consumer awareness about the slower processes of original handicraft that yield better products, e.g. Wax cast brass vs sand cast brass, Handmade bobbin lace vs crocheted lace, lead free crystal vs generic crystal. We also want to instill a sense of pride in the consumer about the products being completely Made in India. Our website is a work under progress, but our Diwali catalogue has garnered much interest and even though we floated it 9 days before Diwali, we were able to procure some orders. We currently work with artisans in Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
