Brief Profile of the Start-up “Sunrise CSP India Pvt. Ltd.” Sunrise CSP India Pvt. Ltd. is a private limited company incorporated in Gujarat by two serial Entrepreneurs, Deepak Gadhia and Pranav Gadhia, in the year 2018 to bring the World’s most efficient Solar Concentrating technology for thermal applications to India. Deepak Gadhia is often called the “Solar Man for cooking” as he was instrumental in introducing and successfully commercializing Solar Concentrating Technology in India for cooking applications. In 1992 Mr Gadhia established the technology transfer of Scheffler solar concentrators from the inventors Dr. Dieter Seifert and Wolfgang Scheffler who were both based in Germany. With the help of German company HTT GmbH, where he had worked, the Gadhia’s developed the world’s first Solar Steam Cooking System using Scheffler Concentrators for Brahma Kumaris and their company “Gadhia Solar” went on to become the leading Solar Steam Cooking System company in the World. Gadhia Solar implemented more than 60 systems including the world’s largest solar steam cooking system at Shirdi temple that cooks more than 50,000 meals per day. Deepak and Pranav Gadhia sold their company “Gadhia Solar” in 2011 and when the people who purchased “Gadhia Solar” subsequently closed the business they decided to fill in the demand. Having worked for more than two decades commercializing, marketing, selling, designing, building and operating industrial energy solutions using solar concentrators the Gadhia’s have a deep understanding of the solar concentrator market and they are expert in managing the capabilities, opportunities, and challenges presented by these technologies for the benefit of their customers, for example, the challenges of achieving a competitive energy cost, space limitations, the efficiency of optics and receivers, and the limited life of glass mirrors. Once they decided to re-enter the Solar Thermal market they scouted for a company with a system that offered solutions in all of these areas and found Sunrise CSP of Australia and their Big Dish solar concentrator. Sunrise CSP, in collaboration with Australian National University (ANU) had developed, installed, tested, and demonstrated the Solar Generator 4 (SG4), a commercial version of the ANU’s Big Dish. The SG4 Big Dish is a 520 m2 paraboloidal dish concentrator that has built upon the ANU’s 40 years of research and development of this technology. SG4 is a 3rd generation solar concentrator that addresses the many challenges of previous solar concentrators and it is ready for commercial deployment. The Gadhia’s convinced the promoters of Sunrise Australia to partner with them for India by demonstrating to them the enormous need for clean energy solutions in India, the Indian peoples’ and Governments’ commitment to delivering those solutions and thus the market opportunity for Sunrise Australia’s 3rd generation Big Dish solar concentrator system, and thus Sunrise India was born. Sunrise India will manufacture and install the 520 m2 Big Dish for India and neighboring markets and Sunrise Australia will buy Shares in Sunrise India through their international holding company, Sunrise International, based in Cyprus. Sunrise Australia have licensed the Big Dish exclusively and perpetually to Sunrise India for the purpose of addressing the Indian subcontinent market. Sunrise CSP India has already received the first Big Dish project for the NGO “Muni Seva Ashram” (MSA), the home of the Kailash Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (India’s leading cancer radiotherapy hospital), to meet the hospital’s steam requirements for cooking, laundry, and air-conditioning. Sunrise CSP India will manufacture all major components of the system in India – the patented mirror panels, receivers, patented steel structure and control system. The process of implementing the mirror panel factory has commenced and is being installed in MSA’s new Vocational Training Centre, thereby also providing training and job opportunities to the center’s students. Orders are being placed for the manufacturing machines needed for Sunrise CSP’s Factory-in-the-Field (FiF), the patented on-the-site-of-the-solar-field manufacturing system for the Big Dish steel space-frame structure. The FiF will bring local manufacturing jobs on-site to every Big Dish project, throughout India. Sunrise CSP India will not just manufacture the 520 m2 BIG DISh concentrator for cooking applications.
