The startup is developing BiliTrak, an innovative point-of-care diagnostic device for rapid detection of neonatal jaundice. Neonatal jaundice is one of the most common conditions affecting newborns and, if not detected early, can lead to severe complications such as brain damage and kernicterus. Existing diagnostic methods either require laboratory infrastructure and several hours to produce results or rely on expensive devices that may provide inconsistent readings. BiliTrak addresses this challenge by introducing a portable electrochemical biosensor-based device capable of detecting serum bilirubin levels within seconds using a small drop of blood. The system consists of a handheld reader and disposable screen-printed electrode test strips that enable rapid, accurate, and affordable testing at the point of care.
