Tavi puts the country’s artisans first, brings them on to the platform as partners, and ensures that they succeed as their handiwork succeeds. Most of India’s artisans work from rural villages, cut off from the current trends and demands of the world. On the other hand, designers in western countries love to work with Indian textiles - in the 2022 spirit of sustainability, ethical practices, and giving back, they are also more than willing to pay the right price for the textiles. They just don’t have the right connections and tools to get access to our artisans. Tavi will bridge this gap, creating a marketplace where designers can find artisans working on the type of textile they want, partner with them, and develop the patterns and materials they need. When sold through Tavi, the artisans will receive a percentage of the profit, ensuring that their lives benefit from the sale of their work. Simultaneously, the designer will want to work with the artisans through Tavi as the creative direction of the design remains with them, and by selling in collaboration with Tavi, they get to utilize the brand value of ethical and philanthropic creation.
