Our mission is simple: make rural tourism work for rural families. Many state governments across India have invested significantly in rural homestays through grants, training, and subsidy programs. However, thousands of these homestays struggle to attract guests because rural families often lack access to marketing, technology, and booking platforms. OurGuest bridges this gap by helping rural tourism entrepreneurs reach travellers through digital marketing, technology, distribution, and curated travel experiences. The Problem We Address: - Rural homestays remain underutilized despite government investments. - Local guides and tourism entrepreneurs lack market access. - Travellers find it difficult to identify reliable rural accommodations. - Large travel platforms primarily focus on urban destinations. - Rural tourism businesses often lack digital visibility. Our Model: OurGuest operates through three business verticals: - Homestay and Experience Aggregation - Curated Rural Holiday Packages - Rural Hospitality Partnerships and Property Management This blended model allows the company to create both commercial sustainability and measurable social impact. Founders - Karma Thutop Chechutharpa (Founder & Director) Karma is an engineer and management graduate with professional experience in India's startup ecosystem, including roles at TaxiforSure and RoadRunnr. After returning to Sikkim in 2017, he co-founded OurGuest to address the lack of market access for rural homestays. He is also one of the founding members of Homestay Association of Sikkim, which represents hundreds of homestay owners across the state. - Pintso Gyatso ( Co-Founder & Director) Pintso holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Delhi University and brings more than 10 years of experience in the travel and hospitality industry. He is the owner of a nature resort in Dzongu, North Sikkim, giving him firsthand experience in sustainable hospitality and rural tourism operations. His extensive knowledge of local communities, destinations, and tourism ecosystems has been instrumental in developing OurGuest's rural tourism network. Pintso is an active member of the Travel Agents Association of Sikkim and currently serves as the General Secretary of the Homestay Association of Sikkim, where he works closely with homestay owners and tourism stakeholders to strengthen community-based tourism across the state. Together, Karma and Pintso combine expertise in technology, business, hospitality, and community engagement to build sustainable tourism livelihoods in rural India. Together, the founders have spent nearly a decade building tourism livelihoods in remote communities. Looking Ahead: OurGuest aims to become India's leading rural tourism platform by expanding community-based tourism, supporting local guides and homestays, and building sustainable tourism ecosystems that benefit both travellers and rural communities.
