Vasudha Climate Technologies Private Limited is a carbon dioxide removal (CDR) company that converts agricultural residue and invasive biomass into biochar through controlled pyrolysis. Applied to soil, biochar sequesters carbon in a stable form for centuries while improving soil health, generating durable carbon removal credits under international registries alongside a saleable agricultural input. At the core of the venture is a digital measurement, reporting, and verification (dMRV) layer that quantifies and verifies carbon removal at low cost and at smallholder scale — addressing the verification bottleneck that keeps high-integrity removal expensive and out of reach for small farmers. Vasudha is piloting this model through a field programme in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya, structured as a 500-farmer randomised controlled trial targeting 400 tonnes of biochar and approximately 850 tonnes of CO₂ removed over twelve months. The company turns a waste-and-emissions liability into permanently sequestered carbon, improved farm yields, and rural livelihoods.
