Concept Personal health management means different things to different people. The needs of a pregnant woman are different from that of an elderly person or a diabetic patient. Managing personal health has become a challenge in the modern world. On the one hand there is an increasing range of health-related information available to everyone on the worldwide web, a profusion of new over-the-counter and prescription medicines, devices and fitness aids, and advances in preventive care. On the other, it has become increasingly difficult for individuals to keep track of these developments so that they are at hand and easily accessible when needed. In the hurly-burly rush of everyday life one is hard-pressed to keep track of ones health status, do the things that need to be done to maintain a healthy life, securely maintain ones health documentation – from vaccination certificates to prescription histories, easily access specific personalized health information, or learn from the health experiences of others. Appletail seeks to provide a service that helps users meet these challenges. At Appletail we believe people should have greater control over their personal and family’s health. We aim to provide a service that empowers individuals and families to monitor and manage all aspects of their personal health. From organizing health-related documents and keeping track of personal health parameters and events, to accessing information on health conditions and interacting with peers: Appletail aims to provide a mobile, universally accessible platform and tools that will enable you to remain proactively engaged and in control of your health at all times. The vision is that, short of actually seeing a healthcare practitioner, there is nothing in the health domain that Appletail will not help you do. Perhaps even help you earn from the experience! Product Description Appletail service is arranged in modules targeted towards various life stages and chronic health conditions. Services relating to pregnancy and growing children are currently available and Appletail plans to add products targeting other age-groups represented within a family in the near term. Future modules would include an algorithm based evaluation and subsequent program allocation for the different requirements and levels of health conditions. Maternity Manager and Child Monitor – Currently signing on to Appletail, users will be able to access health information of interest that will help users monitor and manage their pregnancy and child’s health. The service provides individualized tools and trackers, medical event and appointment reminders, a facility to store medical documents electronically, an electronic forum for discussions with other users, and a tool permitting users to participate in medical research and feedback studies. Moms-to-be and young parents were identified as the initial target segment based on careful study of their tech savyness, age group and app usage trend. Business Model The basic subscription to Appletail service would be free of charge to the users. Appletail would create a viable business model by following the below services and associated revenue models – 1. Personal health management modules will provide personalized critical information for the self-management of that particular aspect of personal health from the user’s perspective and provide tools that will help capture information to monitor status and meet goals. Access to a large pool of healthy individuals and patients, and the ability to make selections based on profile, disease, and prescription information allows leverage of Appletail functionalities to support several consumer research services. Polls and surveys would help gather interesting consumer insights and fill a much-needed gap currently existing in the Pharma medical affairs space. Appletail would eventually help in recruitment of users in patient registries and longitudinal health studies (late phase observational clinical research and post marketing studies). 2. With electronic health record management tool, subscribers will be able to upload scanned or photographed versions of health-related documents into searchable personal folders arranged by date, type of record, name of healthcare professional, and context or disease. The tool is designed to be simple and easy to use. Anonymous audit and analysis of uploaded prescriptions can be a valuable source of information on new product uptake, prescription trends, prescription share, and micro-market dynamics for prescription products. Appletail will make customized information available to clients for a fee, making sure that confidentiality of individual patient information is fully protected. 3.
