Tinmen is a marketplace for home-cooks serving meals to users around them. Through the app, home-cooks, who are mostly women home-makers are able to create a profitable business and earn for themselves. We have enabled more than 200 chefs till now. Most of these women are earning for the first time which gives them financial independence. We also manage deliveries and indirectly provide employment to more 200 youth who are engaged in delivery. The home-cooks who were not earning anything earlier are able to make 25,000 to 30,000 every month. Tinmen’s unique scheduling mechanism makes deliveries very efficient and scalable across cities. The app is currently operational in Hyderabad and the model can be replicated in other cities as well. Tinmen allows users to schedule deliveries for up to a week with an option to repeat their selections. This allows for orders to be placed with chefs ahead if time and wastage is zero. This also allows for deliveries to be planned which reduces the cost of deliveries to less than a fifth of competition. The food technology market is expected to be 17,500 crores by 2021(report by Redseer consulting). This indicates an opportunity for a large unorganised sector and a number of women to join the workforce.
