VITA CARE is developing BioTrace, an innovative portable biosensor platform for rapid and quantitative detection of microbial contamination in milk, water, and other consumables. Microbial contamination is a major public health concern, yet existing detection methods such as culture testing and MBRT are slow, laboratory-dependent, and unsuitable for real-time field use. This limits timely intervention and increases health risks and economic losses. BioTrace addresses this gap by combining bio-recognition chemistry with optical sensing in a compact device. It uses specialized colorimetric detection strips containing reagents such as Bromocresol Purple and ONPG, along with antigen–antibody–enzyme signal amplification. This enables direct detection of specific microbes and converts biological interactions into measurable optical signals. An integrated optical sensor quantifies color intensity and correlates it with microbial concentration (CFU), providing rapid, accurate digital results without laboratory infrastructure. The key innovation lies in enabling sensitive, real-time microbial detection in a portable, easy-to-use format. BioTrace has strong commercial potential in food safety, water quality monitoring, healthcare, and environmental diagnostics, making advanced testing accessible outside traditional laboratories.
