We propose a drug delivery system (DDS) to merge surgery and post-operative care as a single process. The system includes a biodegradable and biocompatible, FDA approved polymer designed as a small pellet, prepared via extrusion technique, with the drug embedded within the polymeric matrix. The bioactive molecules being an anti-Inflammatory-Dexamethasone and antibiotic Moxifloxacin uniformly dispersed within the biodegradable polymeric matrix, to combat severe ocular inflammation and infection.
