We built a service robot which can be utilised for maintenance and inspection of large vessels, storage tanks, ships, chimney, and stacks etc for surface preparation before painting, painting, visual inspection, wall thickness measurement, paints dry film measurement etc. Robot can use copper slag for surface preparation, ultra-high pressure water jet for paint removal or copper slag blasting, surface cleaning by medium / high pressure water jet or dry ice. Robot can be modified for surface painting, wall thickness measurement, Paint's dry film thickness measurement, visual inspection etc. Necessary equipment like gauges and camera can be installed as per requirement with suitable fixture as per requirement of job. A man can do surface preparation maximum up to two square meter per hour while this robot can prepare surface sixteen to twenty square meter per hour which is eight to ten times faster. Moreover, quality of surface preparation remains equally distributed then manual surface preparation. A man also has limitation to work continuously while robot can work continuously with rest. Initial model is suitable for Zone 2 and upcoming model will be suitable for ATEX Zone 1 & 0, which is much needed requirement for atomic plant, petroleum industry and any other hazardous areas where there is risk to human life or "No man-entry zones''. This Robot can carry an accessary weight up to 100 kg and up to 100 m of height. This robot will minimise use of scaffolding erection, great reduction in manpower mobilization, months of work to make surface ready for painting or survey to days. A little or no risk to manpower and environment.
