Xiliherb Naturals Pvt Ltd is a biotechnology startup, incubated at AIC-GKVK, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru, developing an enzymatic bioconversion process to convert non-GMO corn cob agricultural residue into food-grade xylitol, a natural low-glycaemic sugar alternative. Xiliherb's core differentiator is a fully chemical free, biotechnological production route in contrast to the chemical process used by most existing xylitol producers globally.India currently imports the substantial majority of its food grade xylitol requirement, exposing domestic manufacturers to price volatility and supply chain risk. At the same time, corn cob is a widely available agricultural residue in India remains largely underutilised. Xiliherb's platform is built to close this gap, converting an undervalued agricultural residue into a high value, import substituting industrial ingredient at the same time opening a new alternate income stream for the farmers & FPOs supplying the residue feedstock.
