When ‘home’ is a place which holds the songs of the most gorgeous of native birds entwined in the very air we breathe, fields of indigenous produce, happy faces which reflect the love for this marvellous land and so much more; it is a gift which is meant to be shared with others. The ethos of the ZIRO brand lies in showcasing the marvels of India’s Northeast to anyone looking to embrace the beauty of earth positive living. Every product curated by us carries with it a story and can be traced back to a tribe and village where life is a harmonious blend of joy and hard work. The food grown here is completely devoid of chemicals and pesticides because it goes against the nature of life led by the tribals here. The love for their land is reflected in the bee keeper’s skills of extracting the heavenly Khasi mandarin honey, the careful picking of the two leaves and a bud of fragrant teas of Assam, the natural antioxidants prevalent in the ginger and lakadong turmeric and the heritage grains which carry the nutrients of the soil to its fullest. Agriculture and food production is more than just an indigenous occupation. It is a chore which is performed with love for the soil . Weavers of the Northeast have been observed in a state of calm when working on the handlooms. The morning to night rhythmic movements are done with skilled ease but each fabric is loved from conceptualisation to finish, right down to the traditional motifs. Clans in the Northeast wear what they produce because they believe it to be a gift from the cotton plants and silk worms which thrive in this environment. The ethnic designs and colours of their weaves are striking and draw attention whether on a satchel, plumped up cushions on the living room sofa or on a shawl draped in subdued elegance over the shoulders. The Eri silk stoles dyed in colours procured from the nature are worthy of a trousseau which lasts for several lifetimes. This hand spun Ahimsa silk bears no harm to the silkworm, making it one of the best ways to make a sustainable fashion statement. At ZIRO, we aid in empowering traditional agriculture and handicrafts by showcasing it to the world as it is and in this process aim to create a positive impact on the makers, consumers and the environment.
