LAND ACCELERATOR INDIAIndia holds vast potential for land restoration, offering significant environmental and socio-economic benefits by revitalizing ecosystems and strengthening local communities. Yet, many locally led restoration enterprises, working to restore farms and forests through innovative solutions and driving India’s restoration economy, are constrained by nascent business models, underdeveloped value chains, low market awareness of restoration-linked products and services, limited access to patient capital, and inadequate technical expertise to scale their niche businesses. The Land Accelerator India seeks to address these gaps by equipping restoration entrepreneurs with skills, networks, and access to finance, building a pipeline of investment-ready sustainable businesses that can support local livelihoods, improve nutritional security, protect biodiversity, and drive climate resilience.Program Objective: To strengthen India’s restoration economy by supporting early traction stage entrepreneurs - or ‘restoration champions’ - pioneering innovative land restoration solutions, with a sharp focus on the three central Indian states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. By bridging capacity gaps and improving access to finance for the restoration champions, the initiative aims to help scale market-driven solutions that restore degraded land, enhance livelihoods, and contribute to India’s climate and development goals. Purpose of the Initiative: The Land Accelerator India program will nurture restoration champions, equipping them with future-ready skills to thrive in the sustainable restoration economy. Targeted support will be provided, especially to women, underrepresented minorities, and rural innovators, to develop, refine and scale their business models.
