India aspires to become 5 trillion-dollar economy by 2024. To reach the mark, it needs to evolve systems and mechanisms to convert the present demographic dividend into high quality technical human resource capable of doing cutting edge research and innovation and deep-tech entrepreneurship. Emphasis is laid on organizations of the community to serve as an impetus and emerge as technology incubators for social innovations. In India, innovation is still not the epicenter of society. In order to achieve the cultural and attitudinal shift and to ensure that ‘Innovation and Start-up’ culture is emphasized in the community, the SHINE foundation (Sahyadri Hub for Innovations and Entrepreneurship Foundation) incubation is setup. Over the decade Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management has emerged as an innovation hub in the region through its initiatives to drive community-based innovations and practices that have given rise to industries and Start-ups in the region, these works henceforth will be accelerated with the community in focus through SHINE Foundation.
