What stands out
Madurai holds 1,077 of Tamil Nadu's 30,009 registered startups, 3.6% of the state. IT Services is its largest category with 145 companies (13.5%) out of 51 categories in use. 589 of the 1,077 carry a CIN and 508 a website, which is what the best-evidenced table in chapter 8 is built from.
136 carry a funding signal of some class. 135 of those are the self-declared checkbox on the government form and 1 are attested by a named backer, fund or state programme; the report prints the classes apart and never adds them into one "funded" number. 300 of Madurai's startups can be placed to a street, which is the population the pincode chapter ranks.
