M/s Ambi Roots Private Limited is engaged in the recycling and sustainable utilization of hazardous industrial waste generated from steel and aluminium industries. The company operates in the field of environmental management and circular economy, with a focus on converting industrial waste into useful and value-added products for reuse in core manufacturing industries. Steel and aluminium plants generate wastes such as LD/GCP sludge, LD/GCP classifier sludge, blast furnace flue dust, and aluminium dross residue during routine operations. These materials are classified as hazardous waste under the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016, and create serious environmental and storage challenges if not managed properly. Ambi Roots Pvt. Ltd. addresses this issue by recovering valuable materials from these wastes through innovative and compliant processes. The company has developed CPCB-approved processes for manufacturing LD sludge agglomerates and aluminium oxide briquettes. In the agglomeration process, iron-rich sludge and flue dust are blended with binders and processed through controlled pelletization and drying, without any chemical reaction. The final product has high iron content and is reused in steel manufacturing, reducing dependence on natural iron ore. Aluminium dross residue is processed into aluminium oxide briquettes, which are used as slag conditioners in steel plants, enabling safe and productive reuse of aluminium waste. The business model promotes waste-to-wealth generation, environmental protection, and resource efficiency. With planned production capacities of 108,000 MT per year of LD sludge agglomerates and 48,000 MT per year of aluminium oxide briquettes, the project has strong scalability potential. The operations generate direct and indirect employment and contribute to sustainable industrial growth, aligning with the objectives of the Startup India initiative.
