In intensive care unit, most of the patients were intubated, as patients are unable to take respiration on their own. When endotracheal tube intubation is performed there are chances that this tube will get block due to various reasons such as lung secretion, mucous, blood clot, etc. Many patients lost their lives due to obstruction occurring in the endotracheal tube. it is important to monitor the intubated patient continuously. If tube blockage does not identify at an early stage, then it may cause serious injury to the patient even death can happen. Endotracheal tube occlusion carries significantly high morbidity and mortality. To identify the obstruction is challenging task. Few devices have been developed earlier but none seem to be used due to various reason such as inaccuracy in obstruction detection, false alarm, etc. of the device. In the preliminary work at BETiC, proposed idea and few preliminary experiments assured that proposed design will effectively detect the endotracheal tube obstruction at the very early level. This proposed device is also able to communicate with another external device so that all devices are monitor centrally and concerned person can monitor blockage status remotely, also the device is able to send notification, important messages, alarm to concern person and clinicians so as to take necessary action as early as possible after receiving these notifications. The project will be implemented in six steps: requirement gathering from clinicians advanced design and prototyping early validation and feedback functional prototype fabrication pre-clinical testing and benchmarking pilot batch manufacturing and clinical validation. Initial concept and prototype are ready, and a provisional patent has already been filed. The remaining steps will be achieved within a period of 18 months.
