ndia is a fabled land where tradition & culture is deeply ingrained in our day to day lives. Vibrancy of our culture is truly depicted in eclectic art forms, artifacts, clothing & folklores across the swathes of this country. India is also a global economic giant with rapidly growing income & aspirational levels where consumers are looking for differentiated offerings in every sector-including apparel, textile & home decor. India is also the 2nd largest exporter of readymade garments & textile in the world. After agriculture, handicrafts provide maximum employment opportunities to artisans in small villages & clusters. However, due to limited exposure, the artisans are not able to obtain decent rates for their products as a result of which many drop out in favor of secure employment due to which beautiful art forms become extinct. Through Bardaan, we curate handicrafts from different parts of the country like Phulkari from Punjab, Chikankari from Lucknow, to Bandhani & Ajrakh from Kutch helping artisans reach new markets & helping customers access beautifully crafted products from different parts of the country. We aim to streamline the unorganized handicrafts sector by connecting artisans from farfetched corners to new markets & the internet whilst building a sustainable business model.
