“MOVING CHILDREN ARE DEVELOPING CHILDREN”. This is the foundation upon which my company bizeebuds stands. We believe that being physically active is a lifestyle habit that needs to be established in the early years itself in a fun play way. The ideal window of opportunity to acquire fundamental movement skills through versatile movement experiences is age 3- 6 years. If the ideal window is missed, it takes a lot more time and effort to catch up in physical and motor development. The first environment that influences choices that children make is HOME. Hence we are on a mission to MOVE AS MANY CHILDREN AS POSSIBLE by providing purposeful toys using which parents can engage with their children from a young age and show them their active side. As adults, if we are able to fuel and channelise the urge of kids to move for the first 6 years of their life, they will be grow up to love being physically active. And being physically active is an invaluable gift to give a child – one that keeps on giving even into adulthood. Moreover, by providing a solid foundation of base skills, we can empower them to be able to choose any sport or physical pursuit according to their interests going forward. Research shows that physically active kids: • 1) Get higher grades in school 2) Have better social skills3) Are happier and more confident Unfortunately, most of our children today are either overweight or at risk of it, and studies blame the current obesity epidemic on our lifestyle choices, which include too many calories and over-the-top usage of television, the computer and video games. The Indian Pediatric Association recommends that everyone – from babies to toddlers to preschoolers – set aside time for physical activity. Toddlers should have 30 minutes a day of adult-guided activity such as dancing, catching, running, climbing or chasing. Preschoolers need at least 60 minutes of structured play and at least 60 minutes of unstructured play throughout their day. As families, we cannot depend solely on others such as schools, day care providers and babysitters to provide a preschooler with enough physical activity in a day. The onus is on us, the adults, to find ways to incorporate purposeful play and movement in the daily routines of our kids. Sounds easy and doable, right? Following could be the challenges:1) Choosing the appropriate teaching aids / equipment out of tons that are found in the stores and using them in multiple mindful ways• 2) Lack of knowledge about age-appropriate activities• 3) CONSISTENTLY finding and doing those age-appropriate activities This is where we offer our intelligently designed and developed toys. Parents/teachers can now effortlessly add purpose to the play time of their children• It can easily become their bonding activity with their child, which in turn can develop their connection, lack of which is the cause of various behavioural issues found in kids these days. We have figured it all out for young parents. All that is required out of them is their TIME!
